The Merlin Entertainments London Eye is the vision of David Marks and Julia Barfield, a husband and wife architect team. The wheel design was used as a metaphor for the end of the 20th century, and time turning into the new millennium. Back in 2000, the London Eye was known as the Millennium Wheel. At that time, British Airways was the main sponsor, and up until November 2005 they were joint shareholders with Marks Barfield Architects and The Tussauds Group. Originally from London's East End I now live in Hillingdon West London. Many years ago I had a home darkroom where I developed, and printed, both colour and black and white films. However, the costs of the materials, plus a house move, meant I was no longer able to process my own images. I still used my trusty Nikon F2 as often as I could but again costs meant I restricted myself to the amount of photographs I could take.
